1. Blot the affected area. After a shower or bath, blot the area with a clean, white tissue. Wait ten or fifteen minutes.tamin E capsule with a push-pin. For bleeding hemorrhoids, an especially mild hemorrhoid treatment cream may be used to bring immediate relief and not cause further harm to already damaged tissues. Apply to the surface of the hemorrhoid with a cotton ball, cotton swab or your fingertips.
6. Take a bath. Soaking in a shallow bath can also soothe the pain and swelling.
7. Apply an herbal hemorrhoid treatment. Herbal ingredients found to be beneficial include Japanese pagoda tree, horse chestnut and butcher's broom.

Alter Your Diet

1. Eat more fiber. This means softer, easier to pass stools.
2. Drink more water. You need water for fiber to work. The bowel is your water recycling center. A human bowel movement usually contains only about 150 ml (that's about half a Dixie cup) of water. The rest is reclaimed by your body, which is itself made two-thirds of water.
3. Eat less meat. Meat contains no fiber. Even lean meat has a lot of fat compared to grains, beans, vegetables and fruit, which are loaded with fiber.

• If none of your symptoms are being alleviated, consider surgical hemorrhoid treatment. For internal hemorrhoids, ligation is the treatment of choice. The hemorrhoid is bound with a rubber band, cutting off the blood supply. The hemorrhoid will eventually dry up and fall off. Ligation is usually performed in a doctor's office and requires no special preparation. Another option is a hemorrhoidectomy, which involves injecting a hardening agent into the base of internal hemorrhoids to cut off circulation, which causes the hemorrhoid to shrivel up.

• Failure to prevent or relieve hemorrhoids will result in the need for outpatient surgery. This is a simple procedure which includes a lidocaine shot in the affected region. Once the lidocaine takes effect you'll feel nothing, but the shot itself is excruciatingly painful. One or two days of post-operative recuperation are required, accompanied by prescription pain medication. Keep the area dry and employ a donut pillow.
• Some people are sensitive to astringents and the analgesics contained in hemorrhoid cream, so caution should be exercised when using these products.
• Any bleeding whatsoever may be a sign of something more serious and should be checked by a doctor immediately.
• Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist if you have any allergies, medical conditions or are taking any medications or herbs. All of these may affect your treatment plan.
